1958 Bond Bread Buffalo Bisons 9 Card Complete Set

The third of three Bond Bread sets.

Featuring Luke Easter and Phil Cavarretta.

Easter was a Negro League star power hitter. Baseball writer and statistician Bill James rated Easter as the second-best first baseman in the history of the Negro leagues, behind only Buck Leonard. He started as a 34 year old "rookie" in 1949 for the Cleveland Indians and played through to 1954. He hit 28, 27, and 31 home runs between 1950 and 1952.

Cavarretta had a long career, mostly with the Chicago Cubs, winning the NL batting title and MVP in 1945. He is the manager in this card set.

Several other players in this set also had major league careers.
